Longhorn 70.3 Austin, Tx
Jeff, Coach Boo, was my coach and I was on the 16 month training plan. I ran Lonestar 70.3 in April and did the training on my own. In using Coach Boo’s plan, my training was easier and I was better prepared for the race in Austin. For me I learned to trust someone who has more experience than me. This can also mean to trust God to know that He has a plan for me. I finished 28 minutes faster following Coach Boo’s training plan on a harder course. I felt great after the race. Before the race, I was talking to my bike riding partner, who is 71. I told him that I wish that I could be more like a friend of mine who openly prays with and for people during races. My wise friend told me that everyone is different and as long as God is in your heart He will use you in His way not yours. I don’t know if or how God used me in this race and I may never know. I wore my tri4him racing gear and I hope that people who saw me knew somehow that God was in my heart. The night before the race after night prayers, my 8 year old son said Mom, “ Can I ask you something?” I said sure. He said just have a good time tomorrow. My eight year old daughter prayed and thanked God after the race, for letting me have a safe and injury free race. My husband was so very supportive during my training and so proud of how I did in the race. To me this is what it is all about – God, family, and friends. I will be using Coach Boo’s plan for IM Woodlands in May.
