Just some random stuff
The fam and I are heading down Galveston for the Lonestar 70.3 to support all the Tri4Him members doing that race. Regrettably, we aren't going to be there to cheer on all of the sprint-distance racers competing on Saturday. We're so anxious to be able to meet face to face with so many of the new members this weekend. We'll be working with the Houston team that is manning two aid stations on the run leg of the race. The race production company is going to make a donation to the Houston teams charity "The Shoe Bank" that provides shoes to the homeless and those in poverty stricken countries. We're so glad to help out.
Cindy and Ronnie Reeves are the group leaders down there and though it feels like I've known them forever, we've never met face to face. They've done an amazing job with the group along with the other group leaders. God really is using them to reach others and to just be a blessing and encouragement to the Houston triathlon community. Their dedication and commitment to their God and their group really inspires me.
We're going to get there early enough on Saturday to go to the pre-race meeting that Tri4Him and Multisport Ministries are co-hosting. Cindy and Ronnie worked with MM to set that up. They're going to have a Christian speaker and praise and fellowship. I'm really looking forward to that too.
I'm personally a little bummed regarding my own training. I've been having some knee issues recently and had an MRI earlier this week. I was referred to an Orthopedist and will see him on Monday. I've had to stop all training except for the swim. Ugh! BSLT is only a couple months away! I'm praying that the diagnosis will be clear and the treatment and recovery quick. No matter how it turns out, I know that God is in control and that He will take care of me and that the real race that matters is in my relationship with Him and my obedience to Him and not in my athletic endeavors. I'm praying that I'll keep this perspective even after I hear the diagnosis. And I'm still praying that I'll be able to resume my triathlon training ASAP. I miss being out there with my training buddies. Rom 8:28.
