Had breakfast with Coach Ross this week and he gave me the "Ken, we gotta talk about this whole one race idea of yours"  You see I was planning on training most of this race season to get ready for Ironman Branson in September.  Coach Ross' point was that all your eggs in one basket might not be the best approach.  So we started talking about what races to add and immmediately the idea of Ironman Kansas was put on the table.  I have resisted this race the last two years, mainly because the last time I didi it 3 years ago, I didn't feel like I was able to get enough early season training in to properly prepare me for the race.  The difference this year is that I have never truly trained like I have since mid December....I mean NEVER, like not even mid season!!  I am currently getting 2-3 swim sessions, 3-4 run sessions and 3 bike sessions in each week!!!  I feel like I am in the best shape I have been for racing and I just reached my weight loss goal and dropped 13 pounds.  Now I just need to start getting the longer bricks in and by race day I should be ready to go.  Oh yeah, I knew I should do IMKS when I mentioned the idea to my wife and she said Yeah, you should go for it!  She said this because I haven't been taking up any family time with the training...all of those sessions mentioned above start prior to 6:00 AM short of one cycling interval session on the trainer on Monday evening.

So it looks like I'll be tackling the 70.3 distance a little sooner than I thought!

With all that being said.  I am VERY excited about what God has in store this year for the Tri4Him Kansas City Team.  We have grown to roughly 25 members in the three years since we started and the local tri community is really starting to notice our team and our efforts.
